How Zoos Hurt Animals More than they Help Them
Zoos do not help animals by “saving” them from the wildlife like people think that they do. Instead, zoos actually harm the animals by putting them in unrealistic environments that is said to be just like there’s. Which is totally false because imagine you were in the shoes of the animal and you got quote on quote rescued and moved to a cage that is supposed to be better than the wild you used to be in. Zoos are compared to a prison for animals. Zoos are more of a prison than a place to help animals and keep them safe from the “dangers” of the wild. Also zoo workers seem like they can care less about the animals that they have to look after on a daily basis. The animals at the zoos always look like they are in distress and it’s just not fair that they have to live the way they do because you can clearly tell that they are clearly stressed in their current situation. There is also a common misconception that just because the zoos are “conserving” the animals it doesn’t mean that the animals you see in zoos are going extinct. They always make zoos look very good and like a positive thing on the outside but in reality it is a shit show. For example: one way zoos fix the problem of overcrowding is to just kill them instead of releasing them (if zoos hadn’t completely ruined the animals that they “helped”). Zoos are prisons. Animals are also kept in zoos as a profit and not for their best interest of the animal like zoos advertise themselves to be. Zoos also bread their own animals because it attracts crowds which makes the zoo more money off the cute innocent animals they are showing off. The saddest part about zoos using the cuteness of the babies to make money is that once they outgrow their “cuteness” they are then moved to a warehouse where they keep the “unwanted” animals. The animals that are in zoos will never be prepared for their release back into the wild because all that they know is being held in a tiny cage on display. Why YOU Should NOT Support Zoos. Zoos also view animals as more of an object rather than the living thing that needs attention and care. Zoos have been around for thousands of years. Animals also don’t have the ability to breed with the animals of their choice because the zoos taking breeding animals into their own hands. Removing individual specimens from the wild is a leading factor to the extinction of animals because the animals that are left will struggle with finding mates. It is a natural extinct for animals to breed with animals on their own in the wild and when zoos take that away from those animals it causes problems. Animals of the same breed also lose their bonds with each other because they are sold or traded. Animals also suffer from all sorts of things including boredom and stress because of the conditions they go through when they are taken out of their natural habitats and put into tiny cages/enclosures. No matter how close these cages/enclosures are to what these animals are used to the animals will still experience stress and boredom. Arguments for and Against Zoos. It is also not fair for humans to take the breeding of animals into their own hands, to capture, or confine other animals from animals they think are going extinct. Humans also have no right to take away the safety animals feel in their natural habitats and normal things animals do like breeding.
